Your Bad Credit Score Costs You Plenty
|
For example, in addition to paying more
for a car, home loan, and credit cards,
a low credit score will most likely have
you paying more for the following as
well:
Auto Insurance
92% of the 100 largest personal
automobile insurers use credit
information to underwrite new
business, according to a 2001 study
by Conning & Co., an insurance-research
and asset-management firm.
Homeowner's
Insurance
Many insurance companies see a
correlation between low credit scores
and increased property insurance claims.
Therefore, a low score will result in a
higher rates for homeowners insurance.
Life and Health
Insurance
When customers pay their monthly life
and health
insurance premiums without fail, they
are less of a burden on the insurance
industry, therefore more profitable.
So when people
don't pay their premiums in a timely
fashion, those people are considered a
higher risk. This causes insurance rates
to go up for everyone in order to to
cost more
to cover losses by people who don't pay
their insurance premiums.
Employment
It's estimated more than 42% of
employers do credit checks on applicants
before hiring them. They will use
the reports to verify information on
your application such as previous
addresses where you lived and previous
employment where you worked.
In fact, some
employment agencies struggle to find
positions for highly skilled applicants
who have a history of debt collections,
bankruptcy, judgments, and
repossessions. Consumer credit
laws are your big stick.
A thorough
understanding of these laws arms us with
the most powerful negotiation tool
available. During the credit restoration
process you need to look for
opportunities where the credit bureaus,
lenders and debt collectors have
overlooked the law. Then you negotiate a
end that strengthens credit and debt
framework.
Become very
familiar with them. Open your mind to
see ways to use the law to your
advantage for credit restoration.
The Fair and Accurate Credit
Transactions Act (FACTA) which
amended the
Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
The FCRA outlines the rules that credit
repair organizations must comply.
Fair Debt Collection Protection Act
(FDCPA) are the guidelines that debt
collectors must follow.
Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer
Protection Act are the new rules for
filing bankruptcy.
